Yuki is the Rat of the zodiac. He is known as "The Prince" at school and he's very pretty and refined. Yuki has many admirers at school, some say half of the student body, but has a hard time being social; he wishes that he could be friends with other people, rather than being admired and praised from afar.

Yuki has suffered a traumatic childhood at the hands of Akito, the head of the Sohma clan. Akito locked him up and mentally tortured him. In effect, Yuki has a somewhat low sense of worth and a claustrophobic fear. With Tohru's help, however, Yuki is gradually able to loosen up.

Yuki's fangirls hate it when Yuki gets closer to Tohru, and use harassment to try to drive her away. They claim they are trying to "protect" Yuki from Tohru, but the truth is, they are merely bombarding him with one-sided love and adoration; Tohru's the one protecting Yuki. It was revealed that Yuki was the one who saved Tohru and brought her back to her mother when she was young and had gotten lost; Tohru has never forgotten that memory and keeps the hat (which actually belongs to Kyo) that Yuki gave to her. For that, Yuki always has a deep respect and love for Tohru for actually "needing" him.

Generally quiet and polite, Yuki is an amazing martial artist who enjoys gardening. He has a garden in a small patch of forest near the walkway leading to Shigure's house which he and Tohru call their "secret base".

The Blog of Yuki Sohma...

I'm right here

As usual, we didn't attend the Sohma Grand Festivity -- Me and Baka neko that is. On the other hand, Shigure-san went to the Main House without having any second thoughts. Quite frankly, I don't care if I don't come to the Sohma Main house. It's just that, it doesn't feel like a festival anymore. In fact, it's more like a ritual than a celebration. A one-sided ritual. Staying here -- now that's more like it.
"Are you sure you two are not going? I hope I'm not getting you into any trouble." worried Tohru-kun

"We did this the last time and nothing bad happened, right?" added Kyo-kun

"Sorta." I said. Well, I wouldn't say that, after the Kyo-kun incident. But, that's not it's a convincing argument. It's not enough to make us go.
We stayed up all night. The three of us talked, laughed and played spin-the-bottle. Boy, I feel like a girl right now, but that's what really happened.

Surprisingly, Uo-chan and Hana-chan dropped by. I think it was around 2AM when the two of them made their unexpected debut. Kyo-kun opened the door, maybe to get some fresh air, then he shrieked like a frightened cat when they appeared. It was very funny.
"Gomen, Tohru-kun, Kyon-Kyon, Prince Yuki." excused Hana-chan.

"Sorry for the interruption, Tohru-kun. But Hana-chan thought that it would be a good idea to drop by. She's just making sure that Tohru-kun is not alone." added Uo-chan.

"Ahh, arigato gozaimasu. I'm touched that both of you were worried -- utmost touched. But don't worry, Yuki-kun and Kyo-kun were here with me all the time. We were just playing Bluff, but now we can play Rich-Man-Poor-Man." delighted Tohru-kun. "Ano, Hana-chan. Haven't you celebrated the New Year with your family?" asked Tohru-kun.

"Yes, I did. After that they went straight to bed. But I snuck out and gave them a note telling that I would visit a friend and come back in the morning." explained Hana-chan.

"How about you, Uo-chan?" I asked Uo-chan since she Hana-chan's left out of the picture.

"Yeah, we lit some fireworks. After that, Hana-chan dropped by and asked me to go with her."

"Sou desu ka." I see. So they were all here to make sure Tohru-kun's not alone? No need to explain it further. "Let's play rich-man-poor-man, then."
As usual, Kyon-kyon was the Ultimate Loser. He lost five consecutive games -- out of six games. If it weren't for Tohru-kun, he would've lost all of them.

Tohru-kun noticed Kyo-kun's face. It somehow made her lose the last game.
"Did you do that on purpose, Tohru-kun?" asked Kyo-kun.
Kyo saw her put a very low card. It was somehow obvious. At least the cat sensed it.

It was almost dawn. All of us went to the rooftop to witness the sunrise. Everybody's set and ready. Then, like five people puffing a single candle on top of a cake, we blew our wishes to the air and to the sun rising to the bright blue sky. I greet you Good Morning, 2006, the year of Shigure-san -- the year of the Dog.
